Nianne Minor's Art style

I get a lot of people asking me why I draw the way I do and I'm finally ready to give you the big answer. Drum roll please.....I don't know. I really don't. Some people like to guess and say that I draw celebrities in an "ugly" way to remind people that everyone has insecurities no matter their status but really, I've just been drawing this way since I knew how to pick up a pencil. Of course my art style has evolved to be a little more "grotesque" than when I was five but I like to make people laugh. And the thrill of the surprise when my customers see the final product makes me feel like the long hours I've slaved onto a single painting was worth it. But if I really have to think long and hard on why I draw the way I do, I'll have to say it's because I've wrote and drew in diaries since I was 6 and sometimes still do to this day. Not in a dear diary type of way but imagine the way diary of a wimpy kid is portrayed. I love to write so when I write in my diary I'll often be dramatic resulting in dramatic pictures to describe the setting. For example, I might write, "what I texted my crush was so disgustingly pathetic and embarrassing, the only way I could avenge myself was if I traveled to Africa, rode on the back of a crocodile and dropped my phone in its mouth to destroy any evidence that I said such a thing."  And underneath that paragraph would be a picture doing just that. Having many different absurd prompts like that which I would have to draw, I think made me have an art style so crazy that when I draw regular people, it'll just come out weird. I don't know if that makes any sense but I've been asked that question so many times I think I owe it to everyone to give my best possible answer.
